SUNSET STRIP MUSIC FESTIVAL (SSMF) organizers announced that the sixth annual festival will be headlined by LINKIN PARK at the Saturday, August 3 street festival on the famed Sunset Boulevard in West Hollywood. The Grammy Award-winning and multi-platinum California rock band and SSMF are partnering to create a unique festival experience that will let attendees “rock for a cause” with a significant portion of ticket sales to benefit Music For Relief, the nonprofit organization LINKIN PARK founded to support disaster relief, provide aid to survivors of natural disasters and support the prevention of such disasters via environmental programs.
LINKIN PARK--CHESTER BENNINGTON, ROB BOURDON, BRAD DELSON, DAVE “PHOENIX” FARRELL, JOE HAHN and MIKE SHINODA--are excited to perform at SSMF, as it will be their only North American performance for the remainder of 2013. This also marks the band’s first performance in Los Angeles since May 2012, when they performed an intimate benefit show at the House of Blues Sunset Strip. "We started our career playing clubs on The Strip," said lead vocalist Chester Bennington. "It’s a thrill to be back where it all began, headlining this festival in our hometown."
“We are happy to welcome LINKIN PARK back to The Sunset Strip as headliners at this year’s festival. The band started their career on The Strip at The Roxy. It is fitting to see them perform on the boulevard’s largest stage, outdoors with thousands of fans. We are also happy to partner with Music for Relief this year, which continues to give back to those in need around the world,” noted SSMF executive director Todd Steadman.
The band's current single, “Castle Of Glass", the third single from their latest album Living Things, has just entered the Top 30 on the Alternative radio chart. Since Linkin Park debuted on the Billboard 200 in 2000, no other artist has had more Top 10 singles on the Alternative chart or achieved more number one albums this century.
As in years past for the Saturday event, Sunset Boulevard will be closed to traffic between Doheny Drive and San Vicente Boulevard and transformed into a premier concert destination with two outdoor stages, beer gardens, an artist autograph tent, an outdoor VIP rooftop lounge, silent disco, VIP Lounge at On The Rox, food trucks and interactive experiences. The festival will announce additional artists as well as the 2013 honoree in the coming weeks.
Tickets for the SSMF 2013 street festival are on sale now via the official ticketing provider, Eventbrite, at http://sunsetstrip.eventbrite.com. Ticket options include general admission August 3 street festival ticket for $79 and a VIP option for $145, which includes access to the rooftop VIP area with views of the West stage, VIP areas in the beer garden and venues, access to VIP lounge On The Rox, a separate entrance and additional perks.

Tak bisa dipungkiri, BlackBerry Messenger (BВМ) dengan segala fiturnya telah menjadi menjadi alasan utama para penggunanya berlangganan BlackBerry. Sedikitnya tercatat, ada 60 juta pelanggan yang mengirimkan 10 miliar pesan setiap harinya. Lalu, apa yang menjadi alasan utama bagi produsen asal Kanada ini sampai rela melepas eksklusivitas ВВМ ke platform lain seperti iOS dan Android? "Mengapa kami melakukannya sekarang? Memang sudah waktunya. Ini menunjukkan bahwa kami tidak takut bersaing dengan platform lain," kata CEO BlackBerry Thorsten Heins dalam keynote BlackBerry Live 2013 di  Orlando, AS. Dalam paparannya, Thorsten juga menyindir balik artikel media yang sempat menyudutkan BlackBerry tak akan bisa bertahan dalam persaingan sengit handset premium. Hal itu terbukti dengan terus anjloknya saham BlackBerry di pasar. "Dengan BlackBerry 10, kami membuktikan bahwa artikel yang menuliskan obituari (berita kematian) BlackBerry  salah besar. Kami tidak mati, malah kami bangkit dengan keuntungan berlipat ganda," sengitnya. Thorsten juga optimistis, ini waktu yang tepat untuk mendukung BBM menjadi solusi messaging yang berdiri sendiri selain platform BlackBerry 10. Dilihat dari sudut pandang yang berbeda, BBM memang masih kalah jauh dengan WhatsApp dengan 200 juta  pengguna aktif. Tapi ingat, WhatsApp adalah layanan lintas platform. Setelah musim panas nanti, ketika BBM hadir di App Store dan Android Google Play Store maka sudah sahih  bila menyebutkan strategi BlackBerry ingin membuat BBM seperti layaknya WhatsApp, Line, KakaoTalk dan  WeChat. Hal pertama yang tampak dengan rencana BBM untuk Android dan iPhone itu adalah bakal bersaingnya  BlackBerry dengan aplikasi messaging lain seperti Line, KakaoTalk, WeChat atau WhatsApp. Yang kemudian menjadi pertanyaan, apakah BlackBerry dengan BBM-nya akan menempuh metode monetisasi yang sama dengan aplikasi-aplikasi tersebut? Andrew Bocking, SVP Software Product Management BlackBerry, mengakui memang ada berbagai pendekatan yang telah dilakukan untuk 'menguangkan' aplikasi messaging. "Kami meninjau berbagai peluang yang ada, BBM Channel adalah yang pertama yang akan kami coba. Ini  semacam perpanjangan dari apa yang sudah digunakan oleh para pengguna yang biasa memanfaatkan grup ВВМ  untuk berjualan," ujar Andrew. Andrew juga mengatakan penjualan barang virtual in-app purchase yang dilakukan Line lewat fitur stiker adalah  salah satu yang juga sedang dipertimbangkan. Namun ia tidak bisa memastikan apakah hal itu memang akan diterapkan. Mengenai hubungannya dengan pembuat aplikasi messaging, Andrew mengatakan BlackBerry tetap tidak  menganggap mereka sebagai lawan. "Kami memiliki hubungan rekanan yang baik dengan mereka, dan hal ini akan kami jaga terus," pungkasnya.

Lewandowski kesulitan cetak golRobert Lewandowski boleh memborong empat gol saat menghadapi Real Madrid di leg pertama semifinal. Namun dia kemudian melempem di leg kedua.

One of the greats

Applause and tears as Heynckes bows out

Jupp Heynckes was coolness personified before kick-off, as more than 50,000 spectators in his home town of Gladbach gave him a huge farewell ovation. But at the post-match press conference, the 68-year-old coaching legend struggled with his emotions: tears flowed and hard-bitten reporters applauded. It took some 30 seconds before Heynckes recovered his composure.fcbayern.de was there.

Heynckes opens with a statement on his side’s 4-3 victory…

“The first 10 or 15 minutes didn’t go according to plan. We were taken by surprise. I joked with my assistant Peter Hermann that I had the feeling my players were still at the title party. We weren’t well organised and our passing was poor. I had to correct a few things at half-time. In the second half, we played more like we have done all season. It was an interesting and spectacular match. I sensed my players were playing for me. They were delighted they were able to give me this gift.”

“As we’ve seen from the result in Dortmund [where BVB lost to Hoffenheim], you can’t rule out the players being preoccupied with the final. So I have a lot of sympathy with my lads. Everything’s focused on the final. It was important to win today and maintain our rhythm and our confidence. Gladbach pushed us, they have good tactics, good transitions, and they’re good at pressing. They were very good opponents prior to Wembley.”

Unusually, Heynckes and the FCB party didn’t subsequently head for the airport and a flight back to Munich, but instead to a restaurant in Schwalmtal, where the coach treated his players to a typical Sauerbraten dinner - a perfect end to an emotional day for one of football’s greats.

Holger’s bitter setback

Badstuber suffers second cruciate injury

In shock news on Saturday, Bayern announced that Holger Badstuber has suffered a second rupture of the cruciate ligaments in his right knee and faces further long months on the sidelines.

The Germany international missed more than half of the 2012/13 campaign after initially tearing the cruciate in his right knee in the Bundesliga meeting with Borussia Dortmund in early December last year.

The new injury is a so-called re-rupture, sustained in the course of the player’s sports rehab programme, and Badstuber will require another operation to repair the damage. Bayern board director for sport Matthias Sammer commented: “Obviously, we’ll give him all the time in the world to get fit. We’re optimistic. I’m confident he’ll be back, stronger than ever.“
